John comes from the mid-Atlantic coastal state of Virginia in the US, where over his younger years he operated with his father and brother 4 family owned restaurants. Upon selling off of the family restaurants John began working in retail fine jewellery which found him relocating southerly from Virginia to South Carolina to Florida.

John has a daughter Julia who was born in 2001. In 2002 they moved to Australia. John went back into food-service in 2004, managing a top restaurant at Main Beach. Upon leaving the restaurant John ventured into investment finance in residential and commercial real estate.

John has a very strong business acumen holding a Bachelors Degree in Business, John is also well educated in other areas, holding an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and a Gemmological Degree in Diamonds and Precious Gems.
